Rodent Extermination At Riverside Car Dealerships: Signs Of Rats & The Best Rat Traps

There is nothing quite like the experience of buying a new car. Most people spend months, or even years, envisioning their dream car and eagerly anticipating the big day. When it finally arrives, with keys in your hand and the click of a button, you step into your new vehicle, ready to hit the road and embark on a new adventure. The smell of the fresh leather interiors and crisp click of the new seat belt buckle invigorates you. And just when you think no bump in the road can stop you from cruising on, you find that the displays won’t turn on, and air conditioning won’t either!

These problems often point to electrical wiring damage in the vehicle, one of several telltale signs of rodents. Rodents are particularly attracted to certain car wiring and will always chew through them.

Natural Science Exterminating offers residential and commercial rodent extermination across Orange County. We have successfully eliminated rodent infestations in multiple car dealerships across Riverside, California, preventing further spread and damage.

Signs Of A Rodent Infestation

  • Droppings: Rodents excrete pellets of feces in dark, enclosed areas or around food or trash.
  • Bites, tracks, scratches: Rodents leave trails and will chew through electrical wiring, paper, insulation, walls, food packaging, and plastic, among other things.
  • Bad odor: Rodents leave urine to mark their territories and create scent trails for communication and navigation.
  • Noise: Rats and mice activities are often heard at night as they are nocturnal.
  • Holes and nests: Rodents will burrow themselves into holes around the perimeter outside or gnaw through drywall indoors. They often gather dried plants, paper, and insulation to create nests.

Removing Pests From Professional Spaces

Calling a professional exterminator will ensure the most effective treatment for getting rid of rodents. We will accurately identify the rodent species, locate entry points and nesting areas, and comprehensively assess the size and spread of the infestation to determine the most effective treatment strategy.

Our goal at Natural Science Exterminating is always 100% customer satisfaction. Our priority is to keep our clients’ car showrooms and offices pristine and free of rodents, saving their reputation and preventing headaches and also tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to vehicle inventory. We installed over 50 bait stations across 5 dealerships and 2 parking lots to trap and kill the rats while monitoring activity over the course of several monthly visits. However, we would recommend bi-weekly pest control initially when addressing a widespread rat infestation.

The Best Rodent Removal & Control

Natural Science Exterminating doesn’t just remove rodents—we prevent them from coming back in and provide expert recommendations and advice on keeping them out. Rodents can squeeze through openings as small as 1/4th of an inch through cracks in walls, gaps around pipes, and under doors. Our exclusion work identifies and repairs entry points and modifies doorways by installing door sweeps to seal gaps.

There are a number of different ways to get rid of rats, mice, and other rodents. Our preferred methods are snap traps and rodenticide.

Snap Trap

The snap trap is a tried and true mechanism. When the rodent touches the bait, it triggers the lever to suddenly snap shut, killing the rodent instantly. There are different types of snap traps for different types of rodents; a mice snap trap is smaller than a rat snap trap to be effective. While the loud noise of a snap trap may be a concern in commercial spaces, disruption can be minimized with strategic placement. Natural Science Exterminating does not place snap traps outside as we do not want to risk harming other animals.

Pros: Snap traps are cost-effective and minimize the suffering of the animal with an instant kill. This method does not involve poisons. Food is used as bait.

Cons: Each snap trap may only be used once. Once a rodent is caught in the trap, it must be disposed of and a new snap trap must be set.

Rodenticide

Rodenticides must be set in bait stations for safety. Rodenticide blocks contain a mix of poison and food which attracts the rodents through scent. The blocks contain an anticoagulant which causes fatal internal bleeding over time once ingested.

Pros: Rodents confuse the rodenticide blocks as a food source and may become accustomed to it, ensuring higher chances of the rodents ingesting the poison.

Cons: Death is not instantaneous; rodents may still cause damage and pose health hazards in the meantime. If a poisoned rodent is not correctly disposed of, it may be consumed by another animal, leading to unintended poisoning or death.

Don’t Let Rats Ruin Christmas: Inspection, Treatment, Repair, & Prevention

The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year. But lurking in the warm, moist shadows of the attic, kitchen, basement, crawl spaces, and nooks in your home are rats, mice, and other vermin that can turn a happy Christmas party into a chilling winter nightmare.

During the holiday season, homes may become particularly attractive as sources of food and shelter for pests such as rats seeking warmth and refuge from the cold. As homes across the country stock up and decorate for feasts and festivities, rats use their keen sense of smell to locate crumbs and liquid droplets, tracing them to pantry storage and containers. Rats are expert, nocturnal gatherers, crawling around your home at night while leaving urine to mark their territories and create scent trails for communication and navigation.

There is nothing more unsettling than opening up a jar of cookies or unwrapping a present, only to find that a rat has chewed up gifts or contaminated treats that were meant to be enjoyed by loved ones.

Rats can cause extensive damage to your home by gnawing through wires, electronics such as festive lights, and structural wood in beams, walls, and floors. This damage can compromise your home's safety, creating risks for a large gathering of family and friends. The sounds and odors of rats are startling and disturbing.

Rats are drawn to moist, water damaged areas and will destroy insulation, furniture, clothing, and paper products to create nests. Rodents can spread diseases to humans through airborne dried feces; contaminated air, food, and materials; and bites or scratches. Rat droppings and urine can give rise to mold and mildew and their bacteria can spread infectious diseases such as salmonella, Leptospirosis, and hantavirus.

Inspection & Rat Extermination

Natural Science Exterminating begins our pest control with a thorough inspection of your home, carefully noting any signs of rats, including their droppings, and areas where they have caused damage. We will identify all entry points that potentially allowed rats to enter your home, which may be small holes that were previously unnoticed or not properly sealed. We will block and seal these entry points to ensure that as we remove rats from your home, new rats will not enter.

We will then place an inconspicuous system to trap or poison the rats. Our exterminators will remove biohazardous waste—rat carcasses, blood, and excrement—while sanitizing and decontaminating all affected areas. During this process, we continue to monitor your home for signs of rats. Any rat traces or scent trails must be removed by our exterminators to prevent remaining odors from attracting new rats.

Rat Damage Repair & Prevention

In addition to removing pests from your home, Natural Science Exterminating’s rodent extermination and decontamination restores the safety, cleanliness, and comfort of your home with our own carpenters to replace wood that has been damaged or affected by dry rot. Furthermore, we are qualified and licensed to replace your insulation with Thermal Acoustical Pest (TAP) insulation, which provides thermal insulation, soundproofing, fire retardation, and pest control, while guarding against mold and mildew, with a lifetime warranty. TAP insulation helps homeowners save thousands of dollars in energy bills by keeping cool air conditioning from escaping your home in hotter months, and warm air from your heater from escaping during the colder holiday season.

TAP insulation is made of cellulose fibers, derived primarily from recycled old newspaper, and infused with a naturally derived borate solution that is toxic and repelling to pests but safe and non-toxic to humans. TAP insulation can only be installed by a licensed Pest Management Professional and it is the only pest control insulation product on the market today with the Energy Star® label. Customers who choose to add this insulation to their homes are eligible for up to a $500 tax credit.

As a leader and trusted Orange County pest exterminator, Natural Science Exterminating advises homeowners on best practices for rat prevention and offers inspections that detect early signs of rat infestations.

Rats are dangerous to human health. Rodent extermination and decontamination preserves the value of your real estate and keeps your family and loved ones safe from the damage and health hazards of rats, mice, and other vermin.
